Shihan Brian Dewey, a fifth degree black belt, has been studying Martial arts since 1980. His main focus is training in karate for the past twenty five years. He received his first degree black belt in the World Seido Karate Organization.  He is also versed in the use of oriental weapons, and holds kyu ranks in both Aikido and Iaido.  Shihan Dewey has competed at both the regional and national levels, and has worked closely with Shihan Jarem and Shihan Reid, the founders of the U.S Budokai Karate Association.  Shihan Dewey has trained with U.S. Budokai Karate Association since 1991 and left Budokai in 2005. He now owns and operates Dewey’s Martial Arts Academy, which he founded on the networking principles of combining other martial arts. He has an AAS from SUNY Delhi in Energy System Technology.  He has grown up with Karate and notes that, "as an adolescent, I learned the benefits of setting goals, understanding the importance of achieving what ever I set my mind to; as an adult, I understand perseverance and discipline allowing me to focus on my Karate, as well as my work, relationships, and family."  Shihan Dewey would like all students and partners to acknowledge and remember how fortunate we all are to have the gifts we carry with us each day, also, "being a martial artist is about learning and sharing. We can all learn a lot if we put our faith and heart into our training."
